Electrifly-in success is electrifying!

The Mission
The developers of the hybrid-electric aircraft “smartflyer” are the initiators of the Fly-In for electric aircraft. The mission was and still is to create a central meeting point for electric flying at the Grenchen Airport in Switzerland.

In September 2017, smartflyer Ltd. has together with the FAI CIACA, successfully inaugurated Europe’s first Electric-Fly-In under the name “smartflyerchallenge”. This event has attracted many spectators from all over Europe. They joined in to exhibit and present their aircraft and projects.

Over the years, this unique Fly-In gradually gained more and more national and international attention.

Fly-In 2020
This year the 4th edition of this Event has taken place from 12th to 13th September 2020 under the new heading “Electrifly-In”. The Swiss Federal Councillor (Guy Parmelin) welcomed the visitors with an appealing 10-minute video speech on Saturday evening.

Despite the difficult circumstances concerning COVID19, this event once again surprised us with exciting presentations about the electrical developments, a impressive exhibition of electrically powered aircraft and the 2nd E-Trophy Airside Award Ceremony.

Special flying enthusiasts or enthusiastic pilots as the Ski Racer & Olympic Champion (Dominique Gisin) and the Renowned Aviation Pioneer (Bertrand Piccard), who achieved several records for his around-the-world flight with the solar-powered airplane “Solar Impulse”, have honoured this Event with their visit.

We are already looking forward to next year’s Electrifly-In.

ElectriFly-In 2021
The next Fly-In is planned to take place on 11th to 12th September at the Grenchen Airport.
